Allemag Oschersleben 01.04.12 ADAC Championship

Beistke Visser (17) made her grand single-seater debut on the circuit of Oschersleben, in Germany. Racing in the 2012 Adac Formel Masters Championship in the Lotus team, the Dutch female car driver demonstrated immediately her burst of speed and her ability to aim for the podium. Despite a collision that stopped her from achieving a good result in Race 3, she made herself noticed not only by finishing 9th in the first race, but also with her 5th place in Race 2.

The shoulder-season testing period is now over and Beitske Visser has started to get things going. In the east of Germany, the Dutch female driver's mission was to master the circuit of Oschersleben and the single-seater she will use during the 2012 season: a Dallara powered by a Volkswagen 1.6 engine which develops almost 150 HP. She quickly proved to be ready for the challenge by setting the second fastest time during the first tests on Friday morning, ahead of a number of drivers more experienced than she is.

In the qualifying session, she set an encouraging 5th time. Unfortunately she made a little mistake at the start of Race 1. "I was very focused on the red lights that go off one after the other. But in car racing there is one light more that in karting. So I started too early. I braked, but it was too late, and I was inflicted a penalty. A pity, because apart from that it was a good race: we had mounted slick tyres and it started to rain. I was very fast in these conditions and I managed to climb up from 7th to 3rd place. I had to be satisfied with a 9th place, after the 30-second penalty was applied".

The two following races took place in better weather conditions and the track was completely dry. In Race 2, Beitske Visser made no mistakes and crossed the finish line 5th. A very promising first result... "I took a good start in Race 3, but the situation got a bit complicated on the first bend and I dropped to 8th. Overtaking in never easy with single-seaters, but I managed to gain a few places". Though very fast on the track, unfortunately she had to withdraw after a collision, just when she was fighting her way to 5th place.

The Dutch driver makes an assessment of this first meeting in Adac Formel Masters: "Collaboration with the team has been excellent, I have been able to demonstrate that I am fast and I have already scored my first points. This Championship promises to be very open and I am already looking forward to racing in my country, at Zandvoort, on a circuit that I already know". Next appointment will be from 4th to 6th of May...
