Beitske Visser did not wait long to win again. Indeed, she finished the WSK Master Series in beauty by conquering the two KZ1 finals on the new Italian circuit of Viterbo. The Dutchwoman did not have an easy task against a bunch of very determined opponents, but in the end she got the upper hand, as champions do. The experience gained over the last few months at the highest level in international karting continues to be extremely valuable...
After her stunning performance at the World Cup for KZ1, Beitske Visser was back to Italy again, a country she often moves to given all major karting events that take place there. This time, she was north of Rome for the final round of the WSK Master Series, a Championship she brilliantly won in 2010 in the KZ2 category. "This year I moved up to KZ1. Success has not always been on my side in this five-meeting series, with the exception of the Siena round, where I took the top step of the podium. But I really wanted to be in it until the end because I hoped I could win again and move up the final standings. Moreover, it is always exciting to discover a new circuit during a race", the Dutch kart driver pointed out.
It did not take her long to tame this rather difficult, 1,300 m long track, which includes about a dozen bends. Behind the wheel of her Intrepid/Praga-TM, she set the second fastest time during timed qualifying, just 6 hundredths short of the pole position, and won right away the first qualifying heat. Although she had to content herself with a second place in the following heat, she easily won Final 1. "Together with the team we set up the kart to make it increasingly effective lap by lap. It worked just fine and I won with a remarkable lead over my pursuers. I also set the best lap time in the two heats and in the final race".
The following day, she started as the favourite for victory, and this time she won the two heats. But Final 2 turned out to be more difficult than expected. "Delli Compagni made a better start than I did and I lost some time behind another driver. During the time it took me to climb back to 2nd, he was already far and it took me almost the whole race to close in on him. When there were just two laps to go, I felt I could pass and I took my chance". After a last wheel-to-wheel fight, Beitske Visser conquered the lead and took the chequered flag as winner. And again, all the best laps in race of the day were hers! This double victory allowed Beitske Visser to conclude the WSK Master Series in KZ1 in second place.
From Karts to Cars...
Beitske Visser wasted no time in Viterbo. In addition to her fantastic victory, she worked a lot with her team to set up some new Intrepid and Praga chassis, to be homologated for the next three years. "From a technical viewpoint, it is always very interesting", confirmed Beitske, who still has every intention of achieving other stunning performances by the end of the season, in particular at the WSK Final Cup in Ortona, in late October, and at the 15th Supernationals in Las Vegas. In the meanwhile, she will get back to the Dutch Supercar Challenge Praga GT1 she drove to victory at Assen, in August, on her debut in car racing. She will try to be just as good on the legendary circuit of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
