The page of Gabriel Aubry's karting career has closed after a 2014 season marked by a unique experience with the Tony Kart Racing Team and very strong performances. Next up is car racing and especially the French F4 Championship with Autosport Academy. Preparation has already started at Sepang in December with the Super 6 AsiaCup.

"Completing my karting career with Tony Kart was definitely a great opportunity," said Gabriel. "In terms of raw results, I am a little disappointed, especially after the KF World Championship at Essay where I accumulated problems in the finals when I was on the pace. Fortunately, I managed a lot of very good performances in KF during the season and mostly I made a lot of progress in my approach to racing with the Tony Kart Racing Team." Gabriel regularly made his mark on the top 10 in European races and his best memory is probably his ascent to second position in the WSK Super Master Series at Castelletto, starting from 42nd place after the heats. Within the team, he often competed brilliantly against his teammates.

"My first race in KZ was at the SuperNationals in Las Vegas. My quick apprenticeship was not obvious as I could have finished in the top 10: I was seventh in the final when my engine let go... But the balance of the season is very positive with everything I have learned at Tony Kart, including the level of rigour in the approach to racing and the work on data acquisition."

The question of the next stage of his career was debated at length before deciding to take the plunge into the car racing. In preparation, Gabriel participated in the Super 6 AsiaCup at the Sepang circuit driving a Formula BMW. This concentrated series over a week allowed him to learn the basics of driving a car in competition. Again he made rapid progress and was quick to close on the podium, despite very changeable weather conditions.

"It was a very rewarding experience for making the transition from karting to single-seaters and I recommend it," said the driver from ACO Paris. "The grid was not very full, but there was a high standard with very experienced competitors. The perfect organisation allowed me to make the most of the testing sessions and then the six races on the schedule. I admit that it was hard work for me in the first race! But it was all quickly set up and I was able to fight for top 3 positions and was on the podium twice."

Although his interest in the major endurance races has not lessened, the move to cars to make his debut in motorsport is the best choice. In 2015, Gabriel will race in the French F4 Championship as part of the Auto Sport Academy whom he knows well after three years in the Equipe de France FFSA Karting. Until the first race in April, he will focus on his physical preparation. However, it's hard to hide his impatience to return the track to fight for wins, this time driving a car!
