After collecting a lot of success in KF in 2013, Dorian Boccolacci's performance in KZ2 at Varennes, on his debut in the 125 gearbox class, proved all his talent and his ability to quickly assimilate new parameters. Only two weeks after his 15th birthday, this young driver from the Lotus F1 Junior Team won the most important KZ2 competition of the year, the CIK-FIA International Super Cup, held on the circuit of Varennes, facing a group of very experienced drivers.

The KZ2 class is recent history for Dorian. After a couple of days of tests and a training race at Lonato, he was ready to fight at the highest level. Before Varennes, he declared he still had to improve his change of gears, trajectories and overtaking. But given his performance in Auvergne, it seems that the fast learning of the basics of this new class is now complete. This boy is incredible!

"International Super Cup", this is the name given by the CIK-FIA to this competition, in keeping with the previous World Cups. It is a competition that gathers the best specialists to award a world level title in just one weekend of races, in the most important event of the year. There were 86 drivers coming from 18 countries at Varennes.

Accustomed to the KF class, without gears, where he made his debut last January and conquered the WSK Euro Series and the WSK Master Series, Dorian Boccolacci has started to become interested in 125 with gearbox only recently. This is a class where the most experienced drivers usually excel, having acquired the ability to control these powerful machines with almost 50 hp capable of exceeding 180 km/h.

At Varennes, only one week after competing in his first KZ2 race, Dorian showed right away that he felt at ease behind the wheel of his Energy powered by a TM engine setting the 7th time in timed qualifying. A drive train problem stopped him from racing in his first qualifying heat, but he made up for it by winning the other 5 races in this high-risk phase, where he skilfully avoided all the pitfalls. He only had a last stage to complete, that of the pre-finals, to enter the decisive final race. There again, Dorian fully accomplished his mission by winning pre-final 1 with a lead of more than 2'' over his competitors.

He was therefore on the first line of the start grid of the most important race of the meeting. Fight was fierce since the start. Dorian battled to remain in the top 3 and then moved to the attack. While all the contenders were battling intensely while the chequered flag was approaching, he moved to second place in the new leader's trail and passed him brilliantly with two laps to go, crossing the finish line with a lead of over 0.7 seconds and drawing a round of applause from the public. The Boccolacci clan was very happy and could not hope for a better conclusion.

Dorian thanked his team Energy Corse and especially his incredible technical staff, Luigina and Simone, TM for engines, and Bruno Daldosso, his engine mechanic. Everything seems to be ready for a 2014 in KZ as the springboard for a single-seater career.
