John Filippi has made a very thoughtful and clever choice in opting for the WTCC. After a promising start in karting and an impressive 2013 single-seater season, the young Corsican driver, aged 19, has prioritised the pursuit of his career at a global level. He explains with great maturity:

"My goal has always been to become a professional driver," John calmly justified. "I've been thinking about single-seaters, endurance and rallying, but the WTCC struck me as the best opportunity. Racing in the World Championship with talented drivers has many advantages. Champions like Yvan Muller, Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro are the benchmarks on the track, and also off the track, and their example can only enrich my experience in motorsport and give me new assets to reach the goal I have set.

With the official arrival of major manufacturers such as Citroen and Ford as well as Honda and the private teams, as well as the presence of the charismatic champion Sebastien Loeb, the discipline will experience renewed interest this year. Eurosport Events have been entrusted with the media coverage for this World Championship which is organized under the aegis of the FIA. It's a great showcase for sponsors!

The teams are well-known brands, the cars resemble those of the general public - with much more power! - so this means that the image of a competition like this is easier to develop. The season consists of 12 meetings on prestigious tracks on 4 continents, the events are spectacular and very well organized, it really is a beautiful championship.

I am delighted to be able to race in TC2 driving a SEAT Leon with the Spanish team Campos Racing. The team is very experienced, they have already brought a young driver up to a high level, Pepe Oriola, who started with them at 16 years old. I could not ask for a better opportunity for this major strategic decision in 2014."
