It was difficult to predict the result before the start of the KF2 final of the World Cup at Sarno. Without any particular problems, Loris Spinelli (Tony Kart / Vortex) had the best chance to establish himself, it was undeniable, but Paolo Ippolito (Kosmic / Vortex) was very fast and Tanart Sathienthirakul (Tony Kart / TM) had the potential finally to win a major title. However, a lot could happen during the race. There was stress for Moller-Madsen, whose engine would not start on the grid. The intervention of his mechanic allowed him to start, but last.
Sami Luka went out into the first corner, and was Spinelli overtaken by Sathienthirakul, but was overwhelmed by Antonio Giovinazzi (PCR / TM). Paolo Ippolito (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Jakub Dalewski (Tony Kart / Vortex) dropped back on the second lap, Pascal Belmaaziz (DR / Parilla) took fourth ahead of Sam Snell (Energy / TM) and Christian Sorensen (Tony Kart / Vortex). Snell dropped two places to Sorensen and Michelle Gatting (Birel / BMB). The battle raged between Giovinazzi and Spinelli. Stefano Cucco (Birel / Parilla) took seventh from Victor Sendin (Tony Kart / Vortex) before losing two places.
Lap 5: Giovinazzi led from Sathienthirakul and Spinelli. Belmaaziz took third on the next lap, Sathienthirakul fell to 5th. Giovinazzi had a small lead, but it was very tight in the group of four chasers. Sorensen attacked Belmaaziz, Gatting took 5th. Spinelli came dangerously close to Giovinazzi, the leader, and took command of the race on the eighth lap. Gatting passed Belmaaziz, now threatened by Sathienthirakul. Cucco was the seventh, eighth was Ippolito, Gianni Vigorito (Birel / BMB) 9th, 10th Snell and Sendin 11th.
At halfway, Spinelli had a narrow lead of 0.5'' from Giovinazzi, and the challenges gradually became less frequent. Sathienthirakul dropped to 9th. Sorensen, in third, gradually closed on Giovinazzi, Belmaaziz still held off Ippolito, who had set the fastest lap. Unless something dramatic happened, Spinelli was on track to win the World Cup followed by Giovinazzi and Sorensen. Gatting retired on lap 15. Belmaaziz was overtaken for fifth by Ippolito.
Sorensen succeeded in catching Giovinazzi with 2 laps to go. He passed on the second last lap. Belmaaziz was back from it with Vigorito and Cucco took the opportunity to pass them both.
Spinelli won the World Cup in KF2, to delirium in the stands, Sorensen finally took second ahead of a disappointed Giovinazzi. Ippolito fourth, fifth Cucco, Belmaaziz sixth, seventh Vigorito, Sathienthirakul 8th, Sendin 9th and Snell 10th.
